"David Watkins has a clear writing style that immediately sucks you into the story, his is a confiding hand on your shoulder, that later becomes a vice-like grip that you can’t escape" - 4*, Kate Genet, Horror Novel Reviews

Sped through this in one day - to the detriment on things waiting to be done. This author took what might have been a B grade movie plot and made it into an A grade adventure. His characters are well rounded and sympathetic, his action is non-stop and well handled, and if you are inclined to think about what some of this fiction may reflect in the real world, there's plenty to think about. I came away with a new respect for soldiers and their discipline and training and an insight into the "criminal" as a victim of things beyond his control, I hope there is more from this author as I will be very happy to read it.Product details

The Original Return eBook David Watkins Reviews
Great werewolf book! Love most anything werewolf wise. Hell, even have a tattoo of one on my calf. Plenty of gore, drama and good all around fun. Anyway, this is a great read and I hope the second is just as good. Can't wait! Cheers!
This books starts out a little slow but hang in there. Once the action starts it gets better. I actually put the book away a couple of times because it was too slow for me. Then things started to happen! Get past the beginning and you will enjoy it.
Basically Jack falls into a big hole and is impaled by a huge rib from a very large wolf.
It goes downhill from there with lots of deaths and plenty of action.
David Watkins does well developing the characters as well as the action scenes.
An interesting angle on the werewolf genre that's not very typical. The violence is not all that gory, but it is is suspenseful. Really liked some of the characters. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there's an awful lot that went unexplained, and the author did not provide a lot of background that seems to be missing. I imagine it will eventually come since there is at least one sequel out there I've not yet purchased.
Excellent! This story is put together very well subplots, distinct minor characters that are portrayed three-dimensionally, good use of dialogue to characterize the people and to move the story . . . although this is the author’s debut novel, he certainly knows what he’s doing!
The story is told through a blend of narrative and dialogue with a sprinkling of the characters’ internal thoughts, which I found very effective. The narrative parts were efficiently done just enough description to set the scenes for action, action, action. And the action, action, action leads to surprises and sensible complications to the plot and . . . just go read this book!
I am not a rabid fan of the genre, so I wouldn’t have gone looking for this book or one similar to it, but I’m glad I found it. Last night, approaching midnight I told myself “just a few more pages” and then when I looked at the clock again it was after 2 a.m.! Several times during my reading of it I thought of a few well-known, prolific authors who – though they write well enough to be entertaining and rather successful – simply do not write this well.
Lastly, I must say that I am looking forward to reading future works by this author.
Admittedly, I am a werewolf fan and have been since seeing The Wolfman with Lon Chaney Jr. probably over 50 years ago. I've always been a werewolf sympathizer too which made this book easy to like. Schoolteacher Jack accidentally becomes a werewolf and his life takes a quick turn into the twilight zone. Sorry if that's a mixed metaphor or mangled genre reference. I have to admit that too many characters I liked don't make it to the end of the story and the book does end rather abruptly and not in the most satisfying manner, but there's another book waiting to be read that, I hope, wraps up the larger story cycle a bit better. Still, I gave it 5 stars because I didn't want to put it down.
I've been on something of a werewolf book binge lately & this book was really good. Had me hooked from the first chapter.
Ordinary guy has an accident & ends up a werewolf.(Don't you hate when that happens?) Then the government & another gang of werewolves sneakily try to get involved & everything (& everyone?) goes to pieces. Literally.
Really good take on the werewolf genre. Not too descriptively gory, has realistic characters you will care about. I'm really hoping for a sequel.
